Do you know that we have only a little more than two months left of preschool??
If you have heard your kids talking about earning a sticker this week, Melanie and I decided to start a reward chart for the kids to encourage their "kindergarten-like" behavior. We have been encouraging their independence at the lunch table by having them attempt to open up all their own containers, juice boxes, etc. We are now working on getting them to clean up their own area, wipe off their spot, ask for help cleaning up major crumbs on the floor, etc. They also can earn a sticker if they clean up their area and throw away scraps after art, and another if they pack all their things in their backpacks at the end of the day. If your child has a small backpack, they will have difficulty being able to pack all their things into it. If you have a bigger backpack they could use at preschool it would be helpful.
This week we have reminded them every time, helped them, and given stickers out to each child. We have told them though, starting next week, if they have to be asked to come back to the table to finish up or if we have to bring them back to the hall to pack up at the end of the day, they will not earn a sticker. When their sticker charts are full, we will have some sort of small prizes for them to choose from.
